Birthday Card

G'morning :) I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Saturday.

I am so happy the weekend is here. It's a long weekend and hubby has a wee break before he starts his new class, which means we have a tad of time to enjoy together. Although we have lots to do in the next couple of days, I am so happy to have his help, and can't wait to sleep in and enjoy coffee together in the mornings :) It's these simple things that make life so sweet, wouldn't you agree?

Another simple joy I very much look forward to is bits of my day when I get to sit down and create cards for my crafty friends. I love to make cards for everyone who is near and dear to me, but it warms my heart that much more when it is someone crafty who admires paper art.

I created this card for a very dear friend of mine for her recent birthday.

I used lots and lots of PTI goodies here. Tag Sale die #4, Lovey Layers die, Doily Details die, and the beautiful Half & Half stamp set for the sentiment.

I found the perfect shade of felt to match to my hand-dyed crinkly ribbon, which I picked up from one of my fave Etsy Shoppes - Crafty Wool Felt. I believe the color is called Peach Blossom. I used this for the leaves :)

The pretty aqua shade is a felt color from Papertrey Ink, called Aqua Mist.

To make the little flower at the top, I had a scalloped border cut out of the felt that I ended up not using on the card, so instead, I rolled it up int a tight little bud, and trimmed the bottom edges, so that it was just the right thickness. I added a little rhinestone in the center as well as to a few other areas on the card.

I also stamped the background with a teensy little flower stamp, using Smokey Shadow ink, added watermark medallions to the base of the card, a bit of trim and liquid pearls.

I hear the espresso machine sputtering, which means it's just about ready to brew.
