Hello Lovlies and welcome to the final day of my Christmas with Pinkfresh series!
You can find this post over on the Pinkfresh blog and the previous posts of this series can be found here - just in case you're in the mood for a little more Holiday inspiration.
As in the last two posts, I'm sharing both a design that's a tad more time consuming for those oh-so-special occasions, and one that can be easily replicated for holiday bundles.
First up, my newest take on the shaker...The 'Flat' Shaker!
As much as I wish I could say this was a deliberate design, the truth is, this card came about out of pure need for mail-ability. lol!

TIP
To make a 'flat' shaker, prep all of the same ingredients as you would need for a standard shaker, minus the 3D foam adhesive. You'll need: Acetate, a Cover Die like this Geo Star design (optional) and some type of an edging design - here I've used scalloped strips. This helps to hide the adhesive. You'll also need a flat shaker material, such as glitter, confetti, or flat sequins. To make your shaker, assemble it the same way you would a standard one, but instead of foam adhesive, swap in the SB.com double sided adhesive in the 1/4 inch width or 1/8 inch width . It's precise and non-messy, with a strong hold.
Be sure to add the adhesive all the way around your shaker cover, leaving no gaps for leaky glitter ;) Once you're ready to adhere to your base, only stick down three sides of the cover and fill with shaker bits, before adhering the last edge.

I really love how this card gives off those vintage mercury ornament vibes. I thought the little scalloped edges were the perfect touch, since so many of these older ornaments have scalloped peek-a-boo windows. The Classic Holiday Words sentiment was also super fitting, since it's written in this gorgeous vintage font.
The last little bit that really made this card shine, was the super sparkly bow.
I first used the Season's Greetings die to cut the sparkly paper, and then I used the coordinating stamps to heat-emboss a white outline onto heat-safe acetate, which I added as an overlay.
For my next card, I used many of the same ingredients but focused on a quicker technique, which is just as mail-able, since it can be made without pop-up adhesive.
I started off by stamping and heat-embossing my sentiment using the Merry Days stamp set.
To make the wreath, I used a heap of white cardstock, to stack three wreath layers together. I then used bits of sparkly and teal cardstock to add some sprigs, as well as berries in peach and blush hues.
I added a few copper sequins as well.
The large stars are leftover cuts from my first card, and the scalloped edge was cut with the Simple Edgers die.
And that would wrap up my three days of Christmas with Pinkfresh, but I just might have a bonus post for tomorrow ;)
Nonetheless, I hope you've had fun, but most importantly, I hope you've felt inspired to grab your own Holiday stash, a cuppa of something warm, and craft away!

Biggest thank you's for visiting and for your support! It means so much.
I must admit, I've never made a flat shaker, but I'm curious to find out how shakable it is! Thanks for sharing two ideas each day during this series, one that's easier to make when we're short on time. I've so enjoyed the palette you've used in these posts, the non-traditional colours are so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly, it's quite shake-able!! I was kind of shocked! As long a you use a flat shaker material - like glitter or tiny flat sequins, it works quite well! Thanks so much for all of your lovely comments and support! I'm so glad you've enjoyed the two-take cards of this series! xo
