Summer Weddings

~Simply A Perfect Pair~

Happy Friday :)

Last night, we started a massive project. We demoed both of our bathrooms, including all the floors, vanities, toilets, etc...My dear dad has graciously offered to help us finally finish our renovations (which have been ongoing for two years!) and this weekend, is the weekend!

We are terribly excited that the time has finally come. Everything is picked out, sourced out, and ready to go. It was a hustle to get everything in order, but we are so happy that our home will be finally cleared of all the junk that has been building up in our living space :)

Anyway, I have a feeling that I will be slightly indisposed over the next few days, so I'm popping in to share a couple of cards I've made that can be stocked away for a last-minute sort of an occasion..

Summers are full of events - especially weddings, and most of us forget to pick up just the right card in time. So I've decided to think ahead and help you stock up, too!

This card is a soft and delicate pocket card that reflects all the things I love about weddings...Pretty colors, soft and romantic shades, and lovely layers - just like a wedding cake.
{I could so use a piece of wedding cake right now...It's the first time I've craved something sweet since our new diet change. But I must admit, my coffee is tasting rather plain at the moment...}

Cravings aside, here is a shot of the little tag pulled out of the pocket. Just enough space to write a heartfelt message, and maybe even toss in a gift card or some $$.

I started with a patterned base, from the Isabella paper pad I picked up a little while back.
Then I decorated the mini glassine bag, which arrived in my last PTI order. To it, I added some soft mint lace, two strips of patterned paper, an oval die-cut stamped with the sweetest sentiment (using PTI's Purls of Wisdom stamp set).

I don't think it can be seen on the photo here, but I also stamped the top portion of the bag with a really light pattern, using some white paint and some damask stamps from my sash. Next time, I think I might try a bolder color, or I might even add a little heat-embossing to make the design pop.

I added the little baggie to the base of the card, followed by a pretty Lavender Moon button and some crinkled shabby ribbon.

For the next card, I've created a more colorful and rustic card, which is perfect for the modern-day couple or a handmade-style wedding, which is what I think of anytime I see banners, whimsical antlers, and colorful blooms.

I try my very best to match the cards I make to the personality of the couple, or better yet, to the style of the wedding. I find that this way, the couple can add it to their album or box of wedding memorabilia, and it can become a long-time keepsake, rather than something that is lost and forgotten.

For this card, I used inspiration from one of my fave digital designers on Etsy, Kelly J Sorenson, who has an array of beautifully designed vintage and rustic style digital art. She is suuuuper talented and amazing.
I want to be just like her when I grow up :)

I loved the colors and flowers she uses in her digital art, so I've used it as a jumping-off point for my card.

I used a combination of PTI's Mini Blooms stamps, as well as my newest addition from MFT, the Spring Wreath die, which is 50% off at the moment  :)

I added some crinkled ribbon, and secured a vintage button and a die-cut button to the center.

Around the edges of the card, I used a pretty folk art stamp from the Spring Tags stamp set, from WPlus9.

For the background, I stamped the mini blooms in a soft pink, and then used a variety of colors to stamp the individual blooms and sentiment onto another piece of cardstock, which I cut out into two.

To the side of the card, I added some washi tape, two really cute die-cut hearts, a die-cut button using PTI's Button Boutique stamp and dies, and lots of pearls.

Just below all the layers, lies a paper doily, and the lovely die-cut wreath.

I think these two cards represent completely different wedding styles, which is what makes creating for weddings so much fun.

Yours truly is now off to cook some yummy food in prep for this busy weekend.

I hope you all enjoy your day!
