Joy + Holiday Magic - Clear Cardstock Ornament Tags | Delicate Series

I love, love, love the idea of clear tags! You never have to worry about matching wrapping paper, because everything goes with these. I sometimes find, if I make my gift toppings too early, my style changes, or I find just-the-perfect wrapping paper, that throws off the whole wrapping thing. Which is why these tags are such a fave. They work with everything form simple kraft, to elegant, sparkly designs. And the recipient can even use them as ornaments, long after the gift-giving has passed.

To make these sweet tags, I used an oval die, but you could use any shaped die you have, along with some sentiment stamps, versamark ink and embossing powder.
Using heat-resistant acetate helps to ensure your clear tags don't buckle or melt while you emboss!
It's also especially important to use your non-static pouch before stamping, as without this step, acetate can gather a lot of static and make clean and crisp heat-embossing a challenge.

After the clear bits are embossed, it's super easy to grab some sparkly pipe cleaners/bottle brushes and form them into a circle shape. I adhered my clear tags to the tinsel with some hot glue at the top and bottom. It's also super easy and fun to take the clear tags and layer them on other tags (as I've done above) or onto a card, as I'll be sharing in the next post!

I have a feeling, once you give these a try, you'll 'clear-ly' be hooked! I know, it's bad. I couldn't help it.
Want to try embossing your own clear tags, cards, or albums? I hope this quick post helps you get started. If you still have questions, leave a note below, and if you make something, I'd love to have a looksy!

  1. So beautifully done Ivana!! Love this~ And yes so versatile. 'Wet' embossing has always been a challenge for me. But what a great 'neutral' way to go. Very elegant too! Thanks for sharing. Hugs, karen o (PS loved your pun ;) he he

    1. Thanks, so much, Karen! I hear you - embossing is a tough one to work with sometimes. I've found since upgrading my inks and the little static pouch, it all seems to work a little better! But it's still a work in progress! :P

  2. Very pretty, very festive! Love them both Ivana!

  3. Oh wow--these are so beautiful, Ivana! I have heat resistant acetate, but never seem to use it. Thanks for the inspiration!
