Shadow Stamping - Two Takes | The Stamp Market

Hello hello! Happy day, Friends!
I am so excited about sharing these floral cards with you over on The Stamp Market blog. Today's post shows two super fun ways to incorporate shadow stamping into floral cards.

First up, what IS shadow stamping? I'm not sure if it's a coined term, but it's one I think is fitting! Most stamp sets come with a base layer, and accent layers, which represent some of the shadows that add dimension to the floral. In shadow stamping, ONLY these shadow layers are used in creating our floral images, which are stamped on a die-cut base.

First up, using white die-cuts and accenting with colorful layers, it really showcases how light and airy this look can be! Even with bold colors, there is enough white peeking through, to add softness to the design.

For both of my cards today, I used the Market Florals set and Scripty Sentiments.

For the next card, we use colored die-cuts, and accent with coordinating ink and white heat-embossing.

This look is a bit richer, but can still look quite ethereal, if softer cardstock colors are used.

I really love this technique - it's super pretty, but also a little faster than stamping up all the layers.
What do you think of shadow stamping, and which shadow stamping look do you like best?

  1. Ivana, I just realized something. Your cards remind me of a slipcover that I made for an old couch years ago... I sure wish I had a photo to share. The colors were a bit more subdued, but lovely just the same. It got more beautiful with every washing!
Your cards get more beautiful with every posting... xx
