Awesome - Stenciled Backgrounds with Depth | Altenew + Pinkfresh Studio

I may just have discovered a newfound love for stenciling!!
I know it's a technique that's been around a while, but it's one I've never really fallen madly in love with.
It's easy to be converted, though, when playing with stencils this beautiful...Swoon!

I got to try out this cutie with some embossing paste a while back, but today, I just wanted to try it with some ink blending.

The two-step stencil makes it easy to add dimension, and soft layers. I think this is the key for me. A one layer stencil somehow never does the trick for my layer-loving heart. But this stencil allows a stamp-like image, with a bit of shading. And surprisingly, it was fairly easy to color up even with a larger brush. Though I would recommend a teensy detail blending stick if you can get your hands on one. If all else fails, try an eyeshadow blender, or an old (but clean!) eye makeup brush. They both work perfectly.

Because these florals are ever-so-dainty, the scripty Pinkfresh sentiment was a perfect way to finish this card off. I heat-embossed the sentiment onto some acetate, but you could just as easily stamp right onto the base. I find that the acetate gives off a bit of an ethereal look and some extra dimension - which I adore :)

I added some crystals and gems from the Pinkfresh lineup, and a few little sequins.

This was such a fun card to make! And quite quick, too.
I hope it gives you some ideas on how to add stenciling into your repertoire.

Happy day to you, Friends!
