Sweet Treats - DIY Ways to Add Color to Cards

Good morning everyone!
Today, I'm sharing a quick little tutorial on my favorite ways to add color to cards.

Here we go!

This little number sort of marries all the fun ways I like to infuse color into cards, so I'll share my handy list along with how I made the card.

STAMPING

Of course, my favorite, and such an easy way to incorporate different patterns, colors, and even textures (with embossing powders and other mediums). For this card, I added stamped details in the form of thread spool labels, in a rainbow of colors! I used shades of Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores, and Berry Sorbet.

DIY RIBBON

I love making DIY embellies, and ribbon is at the top of my list! It's so easy to grab any old white ribbon you have laying around, and add a spritz of color with a mister, or add stripes of watercolor, or marker strokes, like I did here. I used my Spectrum Noir markers for this delicious color combo!

DIY EMBOSSING POWDER EMBELLIES

Color matching can be so tough with some embellies! When I can't find just the right hue, I usually turn to paint or other mediums, but my most favorite is embossing powder! Just a quick swipe of some Versamark ink, and a sprinkle of colorful powder, and your embellies are all brand new!
Here I used Ranger's Buttercup and Lime Green embossing hues on some puffy hearts.

PAINT/INK SPLATTERS

When all else fails, and inspiration is escaping me, I just love to play around with paint or ink and toss it around a page. It's such a fun thing to watch the colors meld, blend and the organic shapes take form. It's also a great way to use up leftover watercolors or paints. I keep a little pile of watercolor papers that I can color whenever I have some excess colors, and that way they're ready for me to use when I need a fun little background.

There you have it! These are my favorite ways to bring a lot of color into my papercrafts.
Each one is fun on its own, but they're that much more fun when combined!

Wishing you all a wonderful, colorful day!
