Floral Autumn Hi - Watercoloring with Mixed Media

Good Mornin!
It's been a joy infusing deeper shades into my watercoloring repertoire these days. Putting aside the sky blues, buttercup yellows, and preppy pinks, and instead opting for deep ochre, ashy blue, and coppery rose...Perfect way to cozy up to a chilly day.

I started my panel by stamping the gorgeous Today stamp set from PFS several times to create a frame.

I used a soft wash of TSM ink as watercolor, adding a tint to each floral.

And, as my title would suggest, I've gone a step further, adding a bit of mixed media to my watercolored panel for a fun twist. First with a bit of  colored pencil shading, and next, with a fine-liner.

If you're unfamiliar with fine liner markers, my sweet friend, Jenny, shared a video a little while back on how she uses them in watercoloring. They work beautifully, since they are water-based. I cannot wait to give that technique a go, but for today, I simply used them to outline my designs. It helps to give these florals a pop! In case you’re interested - the set I use is super pretty (the pens are nice and white in design), and it comes in a beautiful range of colors. It's relatively inexpensive for the number of shades that come in the package (48).

I digress! Back to my card...Which I finished off with the gorgeous, bold, Hi die from TSM...I think it was just what these florals needed!

I'm curious...Do you ever mix up your coloring mediums? If so, what's your favorite combo?!
