Papertrey Ink Haul

~Oh So Many Goodies and New Blog Features~

Hi friends! I have a fun little post today...My in-laws arrived from their
vacation this past Friday, and on their way into town they made a quick stop to see us, and to drop off the most wonderful bunch of boxes...Filled with some of my favorites from Papertrey Ink.

Of course, it is so hard to stock up on these goodies here in the great North, with shipping and customs fees being so steep. So when momma and papa in-law offered to bring back goodies for us, I instantly knew what I would be shopping for!

So, I browsed, and searched, and made endless lists, and bought some items that I had been admiring for a very long time. I got a lot of my inspiration of what to buy from the sweet and talented Melissa Phillips, and the beautiful works of Michelle Wooderson and Betsy Veldman

And then after 6 looooong weeks of waiting patiently, the day had finally come. The walk back into our home sweet home from outdoors was almost too long of a wait to see what was in the boxes. {Of course, I had completely forgotten everything that I ordered, and purposely didn't refer back to my lists because I like surprises so much better!} If the ground wasn't wet from melting snow, I would have probably plopped on the ground like a kid in a sandbox, smiling from ear to ear, with buttons, felt, stamps and dies flowing about like little toys :)

I took some time that evening to pull everything out, look at every detail, tested out a few of the dies, and then really got to play with everything on Saturday night at the late night crop at our LSS.
{I have some creations to share, so check back tomorrow as I will be posting what I made!}

Yesterday, I also sneaked in a bit of time to share my goodies with a dear friend, as we spent the morning crafting. I thought the only way it could get any better is if I shared the pictures with you all, too!

One of the first items on my list was buttons...I use buttons more than any other embellishment and I CANNOT get enough of 'em :)

The fact that they are so hard to come by here, is what urged me to pick up all the lovely soft shades...And I adore them!

The colors, the shapes and all the oh-so-yummy vintage designs make my heart flutter with joy.

There have been several dies I've been wanting to give a try, and among them are the jar die, filigree border die, bulk envelope die and so, so many more.

A few more buttons in yummy colors, and a few stamp sets...

Of course, felt was the other thing that I really wanted to stock up on. I just adore the colors of the felt options PTI offers, so I couldn't help but give these lovely colors a try. The felt is so soft and cuts beautifully, and I can only imagine how easily it will pair with all the gorgeous ink colors and buttons that I picked up.

Speaking of ink, I wanted to give these a try, as I have been looking for a brand new inking system whereby I could invest in some pads as well as the re-inkers (which I not only use for re-inking the pads, but also like to dilute in water for dying felt, ribbon and so many other fun things!)...I have only used a couple of the colors and I really love the way they look. But I will let you be the judge, of course, and let me know what you think over the next few weeks as I test out all of these wonderful little treats!

Now, I can't leave before I share a projects for today, and although it is not a project I've made with my new treasures, I hope you like it!

A little while ago, my hubby and I made a little micro disc with our wedding pictures to send to my grams overseas. I also promised her that I would send some of my "new" work as she so kindly saves everything I ever send her and loves to see how I change my style and how the creations progress over time...She always tells me how much fun she has showing off the cards to all of her friends, and explaining to them how they were put together...You see, my grams actually moved to Canada with us for a short while, but decided to go back after realizing just how hard it would be to start a new life in a strange, new country.

During that time, her and I were introduced to stamping, and spent a few days crafting together.
So even though paper crafting, stamping and scrapbooking are rather unheard of by the folk there, my grams has a very good idea of how all of the little bits are created and loves to call me to talk about them and ask questions.

I guess it's the next best thing to having her here with me...It's our own little way of bonding :)

So the card....I must try and remember to stay on track ;)
I started out with a white cardstock base, as I do with most of my cards. I layered a bit of pink lace over the front, before adding a chipboard die-cut piece which I painted with a soft green, and then white paint.

I added the shabby bow with a stamped and die-cut button using Papertrey Ink Buttoned Up die and Button Boutique stamps.

Just over the green chipboard, I added a button card, which was also stamped using the same PTI  set. Inside the button card, I added a few more stamped details, such as the pretty background florals, the spool image from Maya Road and grandma sentiment.

Just above that, I added a hand-made flower, embellished with German glass glitter.

To the bottom of the card, I added another die-cut and stamped border, and a precious pink heart, which I distressed with white paint.

To finish the look, I added two more stamped and die-cut buttons.

I wanted to create a special little wrapping for the little micro-disc, and instead of creating a wrap that would have to be torn into to pull out the disc, I created this little holder, out of which the disc can be pulled out and the package can be saved.

It started out as a button card, created using the Button Card Die and Button Boutique Stamps.
To that, I added a little handmade box, which I made slightly bitter than the size of the plastic card case.

Before I put the box together, I scored and then flattened it, so that I could stamp the cardstock.
Using some older flower stamps, I stamped the various bits in different colors, and then pulled the box together, adhering the sides with Scor Tape.

I added just a pinch of lace, punched paper and a tiny flower and button to decorate the front.

And the last thing before I go, a quick snap of the new Clay Hearts added to my shoppe!

They come in a pack of two, with one heart and a matching button. For the card above, I used the molded heart, which I altered with white paint.

These come in four yummy colors, pink, yellow, blue and green and are super fun to play with and look so delicate - I simply adore using them on my projects and I hope you will too!

Oh and just one more thing before I go....
