Baby Fever?

~Welcome Baby~

Do I have baby fever? Well, you'd almost think so.
With the amount of baby projects I've been whipping up lately, it's no wonder all of our friends are starting to suspect :)

But I do have to say, as lovely as babies are, for now, there are only baby cards in the near future for this duo.

I guess I just love the idea of making a card soft and delicate, and a baby card is just the perfect venue for that. Plus, I picked up some new PTI goodies recently, and I couldn't wait to try out the little Wonderful Words baby mini stamp set and dies.

The first card started out as a boy card, and quickly turned into something much more girly, with the addition of purple layers, flowers and floral hearts.

I started with a base of white cardstock, and layered a Maja Design paper (Vintage Spring Basics - 9th of April) for a pop of color. Isn't it pretty? With all of the distressed bits...I love when paper looks so gorgeous without me having to do anything to it :)

At the top, I added a half circle from the Limitless Layers Oval Collection, a lighter purple banner from the Banner Borders die, and a polka-dot heart, stamped using the Friendship Jar set, and cut using Sizzix Primitive Hearts die.

For the sentiment, I started by die-cutting two baby words, using the Wonderful Words Baby die.
I then, stamped each one using the matching stamp, in two different colors, Spring Rain and Winter Wisteria. I used the blue layer as the bottom part, and snipped two b's from the purple baby word, to add to the blue base, so that I could have alternating colors.

I adhered the baby word to a scalloped oval, cut using Limitless Layers Ovals, and stamped the word welcome and congratulations in Spring Moss ink.

I cut another heart using the Sizzix die, and stamped it in pretty leaves and polka dots, using the Rosie Posie stamp set, in Winter Wisteria, Spring Rain, and Spring Moss inks.
I added a PTI button to the center of the heart, and then used some lace, and the Beautiful Blooms die. I cut four flowers of the same size, folded them, and adhered them together with a rhinestone and some German glass glitter.

I loved putting it together so much, that I made another one like it, just in different colors.

For this card, I used a combination of Melon Berry, Hibiscus Burst and Sweet Blush ink.

I had some pretty light coral ribbon on hand, so I added a big, beautiful, shabby bow to the top of this card, instead of a heart.

For the background paper, I used a paper that is so near and dear to my heart, and it was the last little bit I had left from the discontinued Girls' Paperie collection
It always breaks my heart just a little bit when a pretty paper collection is discontinued...It's like your true-and-tried, mostfavorite mascara being replaced by a far inferior kind, or that perfect shade of foundation getting a re-vamp that results in all the wrong properties, prompting you to start the ever-exhausting search to replace your dearly beloved...I just had an "aha" moment...

I suppose that is probably the reason why my hoarder-ish tendancies kick in when I fall deeply, madly in love with a paper collection. I buy at least two of each sheet..And even so, I still contemplate just the perfect project to use them for. As  I am writing this, I chuckle. When I actually say it out loud, it sounds so silly! But I bet, I am not the only one.
Do you do the same?

With just a teensy little bit of the pretty print left, I whipped up another little card.
Baby themed, of course, but since I had all the supplies right there in front of me, I figured why not.

It uses most of the same ingredients as the above two cards, except this time, I mounted this card on an acetate card base, so that I could stamp a white lacey motif along the top of the card. I also added a white lace trim, and a cluster of hearts, buttons and flowers.

I used the left-over a and y letters to add to the stamped baby background, which I stamped in Aqua Mist ink.

To create the faux  stitching, I used the pretty stitches from this PR stamp set, which I have discovered is my all-time fave stamp company for borders, stitches and pretty fonts. I looooove the way they pair so well with just about anything.

Well, that wraps up my baby cards...For today, at least :) And with no new babies on the horizon, I am adding all of these cards to the shoppe

I have an exciting lunch date today with a friend...We are planning to visit a food festival of sorts that takes place here every year. And if anything makes me as happy as paper crafting, it's food. And good friends :)

I hope you enjoy your day!
