Precious Remembrance & Maja Design Card

~A Little Rainbow Brite~

Do you all remember Rainbow Brite? I was a little baby when the series started, but I do remember all the little dolls scattered about the stores and thinking all the rainbow colors were so, so very pretty. I think my love of rainbows goes way back to that time.

I was the kid that could stay inside an art store for hours, just admiring the beautifully arranged penciled crayons, and all the many hues of the rainbow. The neatly stacked paper ranging from red all the way to violet, and all the colors in between.

I still very much admire and collect rainbows to this day.
I have a Pinterest board full of them, and my craft room is organized by none-other-than a beautiful rainbow of craft supplies.

It's funny that after all these years, not a single rainbow has made it into my projects.
And I am so excited that Rainbow Brite is still very much loved, and that little kiddos like my niece are still huge fans.

So I made this card with her, little Raibow,  and my love of rainbows in mind, because it reminds me of all things from the 80's and so many fun childhood memories.

Once again, I paired the gorgeous Precious Remembrance stamp set, Journey, along with Maja Design papers from the Vintage Spring Basics collection.

This card is a cornucopia of fun, vibrant layers, just like I remember the 80's - full of rainbows, stars, pop music, neons, bright lipstick and everything that was bold and fun.

To add a punch of rainbow bright to the card, I used a pretty print from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss collection. I used the print to die-cut pretty heart borders using PTI's Heart Border die, and I used a doily die from MFT to cut the lovely purple Maja paper. I layered the doily onto a chevron print from Simple Stories, along with some liquid pearls, the heart border, and a white button.

Just below that, I added the white cardstock base, stamped with colorful stars and sentiments form the Journey stamp set, using Ripe Avocado, Winter Wisteria and Ocean Tides ink from Papertrey Ink.

I decorated the bottom half of the card, using the same heart border, layered on top of a scalloped chipboard piece that I painted with white paint, and a pretty pink butterfly. Just below that, I added a patterned brad and more little stars and sentiments to finish off the card.

**A Little Tip: Next time you have a clear stamp sentiment, why not curve it as you place it on your block to create a curved sentiment like the one I have on this card? It's a way to double up on the functionality of your stamps, add some interest, and even help you fit in long sentiments into a smaller space!**

I wish you all a bright rainbow-filled day,

p.s. Thank you Karen and Ros for the support and love regarding yesterday's post. I am so shocked at the lack of food education here, too, Ros. Watching Jamie Oliver's Ted talk opened my eyes to the change that is needed not only here in Canada, but seemingly in most countries now.
His dedication inspires me to do something, too :)
