Love You - The Stamp Market January Release Blog Hop

Hello Friends! It's release day over at the Stamp Market so we're celebrating with a blog hop!
There is SO much yumminess in this release - some of my favorite picks are the Rainbow Stripes die, and the Oh So Lovely set...It reminds me of Springtime in Paris!

Due to a tiny shipping hiccup (pesky Holiday delays!), my cards are a wee bit different today and I'll get around to sharing some of these products with you soon, but for today I'm mixing old with the new :)

Truth be told, cardstock is one ingredient I could certainly go months without purchasing - aside from a good solid white. Lately though, I've been drawn to the simplicity and punchy pops of color that come from creating with cardstock. I credit a lot of this to the gorgeousness that is the Color Crush line up...How could one not want to indulge?

Today's cards showcase a few cardstock techniques that are super easy, yet super fun....while incorporating a fabulous new essential die from TSM.

For my first card, I used a cardstock strip design to back my negative Stacked Love You die-cut. It's a technique that has really been trending lately, and I love how it gives cards an instant cheer factor!
TSM has just released THREE sizes of Quick Strips Dies, which make this technique so easy. I also love Amy's tip about pre-cutting a pile of these and storing them in a pretty cup for an easy and quick go-to. But if you don't have the dies, do not fret! It's super easy, albeit a bit more time consuming, to cut the strips DIY. But trust me, once you fall in love with this technique, the dies will become invaluable!

TIP
Cut strips of varying cardstock colors with your cutter or the new Quick Strips Dies, and adhere to the back of your negative-cuts. Alternating contrast in the colors helps the design pop, and using one (or more) of the colors as a repeating hue, helps to tie everything together.

I've finished it up with a few scallops and another multi-colored strip.

For my next card, I used some older goodies, giving the cardstock a more prominent feature - as a bold background.
I find that working with a cardstock background can be challenging for an airy and bright style.
But adding a few negative cuts helps with this, by bringing through the white and lightening things up a tad. Here, I used the confetti from the Stitched Shaker Window dies. I also added a lightly-toned sentiment using the Lots of Thanks set, some vellum leaves, and a pop of Peach cardstock at the top.

It's so different than what I'm used to making, but I kind of like the vibrancy!
And I think the cardstock is here to stay, as are my new favorite dies! ;)
