Hi Friends...What a day in store!
Not only does the new February release go live this morning, but TSM also turns 3 today!!
Which means we have a Birthday celebration in place with some really exciting things happening ;) I've included the details below, in case you're tuning in just now.
My cards today feature just a sampling of the pretty new stamps and dies...Splashed up with lots of color! A BIG thanks to my dear friend and 'watercolor mentor', Michele, for encouraging me to give watercoloring another try ;)
First up, possibly my fave new floral stamp - the Fabulous Floral set.
I could spend ALL day coloring this beauty.
Here, I mixed up some ink pad hues to get the deep, rich tones:
Large flower - mix of Cherry Red, Melon and Citrine
Small Flowers - Melon and Citrine to get a warmer, sunny yellow
Foliage - Citrine + a drop of Leafy
The two pink flowers - same as large flowers, with a touch of Party pink.
If you want to play but you haven't decided yet to invest into the full-size pads and re-inkers, the mini cubes make it easy to give some of these colors a whirl. I absolutely love minis - more so than full-size pads - so I'm super excited to see these!

To finish off this card, I used the Modern Greetings stamp. If you're super lazy like moi - here's a quick way to get even, colorful letters without the bother of masking.

TIP
Select a rainbow of colored ink. Starting with the lightest color (in this case yellow), ink up just a portion of the sentiment, then follow with the second lightest color (orange), and continue until the entire sentiment is colored up, making sure you overlap just a little bit with each color. If your gradient looks good, simply stamp away. If you have harsh lines where the colors meet, use a blending sponge or dabber to gently blend the colors with a very light hand. I love the tiny size and precision of these.

My next card is all about the makers and this little set says it all.

I really do love this set...The adorable scripty sentiment, surrounded by art-y tools. Omg, it's so, so sweet.

I heat embossed the little tools, and colored them up with some of Color Crush re-inkers and my waterbrush. Here, I went ahead with some super simple masking + stamped the sentiment in three hues, and finished things off with a few enamel dots. Such an easy and quick card, perfect for sharing with those who love to make too :)
For my last card, I used the Someone Special set - it's so pretty all colored up!
I had an awful time trying to photograph it with all the cloud cover, but I hope you get the idea :) It's a stunning floral arrangement - which I've fussy cut to crate a little window, so I could sneak in a little shaker action. But I see a coordinating die is available - yay! I heat-embossed the base and the acetate with the sentiment, but I am not loving the shadow it creates in photos. I think in the future, top embossing only for this girl ;)
I used the re-inkers to add splashes of color, but you could just as easily use your fave markers, coloring pencils, or any other color medium. I love making up these panels in advance to color when I'm needing a little tlc time...I'll be sharing another one super soon!
