Here are my two creations using the "Lark Additions" stamp set, which just so happens to be this months FREE set with a $50 purchase :)
A couple of felt gift envelopes for very special occasions!
I love gifting certificates and gift cards for special days like birthdays, weddings, and new babies.
Unlike the olden days, when occasions called for traditional gifts that often times were very purposeful, most of us today have no clue what to gift to our loved ones, as most of us already have more little trinkets than we know what to do with.
Today, when someone needs or wants something, it is easier than ever to simply go out and buy it, making it very hard to pinpoint what to gift to others...Especially in the way of smaller, meaningful gifts.
Which is why, besides handmade goodies, a gift card is my next go-to.
It can be so helpful for those bigger items that are rarely that easy to run out and simply buy, or it can help one pick up something they really need. It really just simplifies the process for the gifter and the recipient.
I know that some find this to be a rather impersonal gift, but that is why I always make sure that the holder for the gift card is a special little handmade creation, with plenty of thought and warmth to complement the "impersonal" gift :)
So here is the first holder, made of two pockets, one for a message and the other for the gift card.
It was rather easy to make. I simply folded a single white felt sheet into thirds, and added a third of a colored felt sheet to the front. I sewed the sides together, and cut the flap of the envelope with my pinking shears to create an envelope point.
For the front of the holder, I layered together some lace, a bit of patterned paper, some more felt, and some embellishments.
I used some vintage ribbon for the flap, along with a star die-cut and button.
I stamped and cut out the sentiment (from Lark Additions stamp set), and added it to the die-cut heart & button on the front of the holder.
Then I decided to make one more, a bit smaller than the first one, but with all the same elements.
I added a couple more buttons, and slightly changed the colors, but most of the elements are the same.
{I made this holder the same basic way that the first one was made, except I used a narrower width of felt to make it slightly smaller}
Wouldn't these be so fun to give away?
I can't wait for the next special occasion to arise so I can fill these with gifts and sweet words :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you'll continue on in the hop and visit Jean's blog next.
Also, for a chance to win all of the new 5 stamp sets, simply leave a comment on each blog along the hop! The deadline to comment is 9 pm PDT, Wednesday, January 23rd!
