A Chilly But Wonderful Easter...

Happy Tuesday!
How are you all doing? Did you have a good Easter weekend? Did you have plans with family or simply enjoy the long weekend and relax?

We had a pretty quiet Easter, and enjoyed some time with my folks. We did a bit of egg dyeing, made some yummy Easter recipes, enjoyed lots of family time, and even did some scavenging (of the shopping kind). It was a wonderful weekend and lots of fun was had by all. And on top off all of that, the Easter Bunny (a.k.a. ma and pa) was especially good to us this year. Hubby and I have been pinching ourselves over our beautiful new gift, which is patiently waiting in the garage to be set up, just as soon as the weather perks up a  little. Care to take a guess what it is?

I am giving away some Felties and Buttons to a random winner who can make the right guess between now and the end of the month. I will draw a name May first-ish and send some Spring goodies to the lucky reader!

Now I'd like to share with you a sweet, Springy baby card that I've just added to the Shoppe this morning!

I adore cards that have a bit of personality, especially ones designed around a play on words. In this case, I though the "just hatched" pun lent itself perfectly to a this egg-shaped card.

To make the egg, I drew a large outline (in pencil, because I decided to freehand-it), which I then cut with my scissors into a more refined and even egg shape. I folded a piece of white cardstock in half, for the card base, and then traced and cut according to my egg-stencil. The stencil then became the front of the card which I decorated with PTI stamps, dies, and lots of lace and trim.

For the ribbon, I used a mix of my Shabby Ribbon and pastel-colored lace in a beautiful peachy shade. A couple of layered buttons and two pennants finish off this card topper.

Just below that, the base of the card was first covered in a delicate pink lace, followed by a smaller egg cut-out decorated with PTI's Happy Hexagons stamps and dies. I used Papertrey Ink Dye Inks in Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Orange Zest, Melon Berry and Smokey Shadow

A white pom-pom trim lines the smaller egg, for some added dimension. Lastly, I added a baby word cut-out using this Papertrey Ink die

I also did a few Easter-y crafts for the festivities, which I must find time to tuck away now, so that they are safe and sound for another year :)

Here are the treat baggies I whipped up for our Spring table decor.

I used simple glassine baggies and filled them with various candies, decorated with two layers of MFT's Spring Wreath diecuts, a stamped egg (which is actually an up-side down hot air balloon), stamped sentiment, a felt heart and a touch of sequins and buttons. I added a fabric tab, some liquid pearls and a paper doily to keep the contents inside. Super quick and easy favor that could be customized to any holiday!

And here's  a quick snippet of the table setting. Deciding to host the supper was a rather last-minute decision, so without much time to prepare, or any "Spring" tableware, I gathered white candlesticks, vases, and dinnerware I had kicking around the house, along with a couple of hand-dyed foam eggs and handmade nests. I added a bit of Spring color and texture with some twigs from a craft store and a pretty lace panel curtain from Ikea that I used as a table runner. The polka dot placemats were a last-minute find (and a great deal!) and I think they will get plenty of use for many holidays and events to come :)

It was a wonderful way to spend a chilly Easter weekend in our new home, and we can't wait for many more Easter gatherings in the years to come!

p.s. Tried this yummy Panna Cotta for dessert...Thought I'd share as it was completely and incandescently delicious, yet so very easy to make!

I think the gift is either a barbeque grill or a garden swing.
