Oh textured cards. How I love you!
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and it certainly means forgoing the mailbox...But to me, a decadent, textured card is SO satisfying to make. Mostly because I get to use all the pretty little things I collect. Like buttons, sparkly clasps, and clay trinkets!
Yesterday was our very last day of Christmas with Pinkfresh (today is a bonus post of sorts!) and my card design is super simple. A little bit of trimming with the Classic Edgers dies, some color blocking with gorgeous speckly cardstock (it kind of photographs funny, but it looks lovely irl - sort of like a fuzzy felted paper), a gorgeous Layered Wreath, and of course, the toppings. Oh the toppings.
This is a perfect example of a card that was intended to look like all the others, but with the help of my baggie of trinkets, turned into something completely new!
To finish my card, I used the Merry Days stamp set for the sentiment, and backed everything up with some Kraft cardstock.

I really love how cozy this card looks with that deep green, speckled cardstock, and how the little bit of bling and texture brings a note of elegance.

Dear Ivana this card is truly gorgeous! I love layers too~ (and I even mail them! CD mailers [thin box style] are not too $ to send ; ) This card does have a striking elegance to it. Perhaps it's the deep green w/ the white - but the embellishments send it over the top! So pretty. Have a nice weekend <3 Hugs, karen o
ReplyDeleteOh that's a fabulous idea! I've not thought about trying to find the thin CD mailers! It might just open up a whole new world of shipping possibilities :) Thank you so much for all of your love, sending big hugs!Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend xo
DeleteI'm trying not to drool, but my oh my--you've outdone yourself, Ivana! Wish you could hand this one to me--mostly because that would mean we're meeting in person! Love how this is modern, elegant, beautiful & not too busy--perfection!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Greta! You're too kind! And I sure hope that day will come soon :)
DeleteI love adding textures to my cards too! I usually use glitter, ribbons or trims, embossing powders, etc to add texture. But I love your pretty buttons on your card! Beautiful creation!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all of your sweet notes, Denise. I have to admit, I love all those things! Isn't texture the best!? It can add such a snazzy finish to a card design. Sending hugs!
DeleteThe buttons are so pretty, as is this palette. I've never used clay pieces on a card, they add so much elegance to the design. Thank you so much for these crafting-on-the-go posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I really hope you're able to give them a try! They're super fun to work with, and fun to make (the itty clay buttons are just Fimo + a button mold). Sending big thanks and hugs!
DeleteIvana, our adventure to NY was such a treat - you should know that you are well loved there, too! So nice to come home to yet another gorgeous color combo of papers used with this wonderful wreath! Gorgeous, my friend! xx

Oh that is so wonderful to hear, friend! I thought of you both over the weekend, and so wished I could have been a fly on the wall! I hope one day we will meet and craft the day away! I send you and Michelle the biggest hugs!
